Gut gespielt und doch 2 : 4 verloren

The highly anticipated rematch between SCU and SpVgg Erlangen lived up to the pre-match hype. SCU came out inspired after their poor showing against Spieli in early Spring and it immediately paid dividends.  Marcus Hedler, making his AH debut, connected on a beautiful cross and Erlangen rewarded his efforts with an own goal in the first minute. SCU connected to apply the pressure. Heiko connected on a long distance attempt that barely missed in the 6th minute. 10 minutes later, Kaktus and Ollo showed their excellent ball handling and crossed the ball to the middle of the goal where Lars rocketed into the back of the net, to give SCU a 2-0 lead after only 17 minutes. They added to their lead in the 23 minute, but the goal was annulled due to offsides. Instant replay showed otherwise!

Erlangen took advantage of the error and drew within one after a beautiful breakaway goal. An unlucky foul in the penalty box resulting in a penalty kick equalized the score right before half time to 2-2. The bad luck continued in the second half, after a deflected free kick skipped over the heads of Heiko, Clark and Guido to give Erlangen a 3-2 lead in the 53 minute.

SCU had chances in the 55th, 57th and 59th minutes from Ollo and Kaktus to equalize, but it wasn't meant to be this day.

Erlangen padded their lead in the 88th after SCU had given all they had.
